NEST AND REST BIRDHOUSES

In the winter I design and build various nesting boxes for song birds all the way up to large birds of prey. Mounting a birdhouse is easy and doesn't take much effort or time. Imagine the sweet sound of birds singing as you sit back on your lawn chair..un-plug and savor the sweet serenity of nature in the comfort of your own private sanctuary.

-Birds play a critical role in the ecosystem. Helping to keep populations in check helps to insure survival for all species of animals/insects etc...

Some Key Features of my Birdhouses:
-Overhang roof, drainage holes and vents to keep the nest dry and cool
-Side door opens for easy cleaning
-Weather resistant plated and/or galvanized deck screws
-Predator resistant entrance hole

A word of caution: Golf courses, cultivated fields, gardens, and yards are potentially good habitats for nest boxes, but avoid areas where pesticides and herbicides are used. These are not only harmful to birds, they decrease and sometimes eliminate the insect populations that are the primary food source for many cavity-nesting species.

To Mount the house on a free standing pole I recommend the following:

1) 10 Foot 3/4" Electrical Conduit Pipe (cut off approx. 2 feet) Pole can be greased to discourage predators from climbing pole

2) 3/4" 2 hole Strap (to secure pipe to house)

3) 2 1/4" thick and 2" long bolts with 1/4" nuts and washers

All boxes are hand made using locally sourced wood whenever possible and on occasion we source brand new salvage wood from construction. We use water proof glue along with heavy duty wood screws to insure a long lasting product that will provide you with hours of enjoyment ....
